Motherhood Regained Through IVF
Little Aindri is a special child. An IVF baby, she has brought joy to her parents’ lives that they had thought was never possible again. Aindri is Mr. and Mrs. Sen’s second child. Her mother is 47 and father 50. Mr. and Mrs. Sen’s firstborn was a son. His birth, 26 years ago, was an occasion for great celebration in the Sen family. As the little boy grew, his parents’ dreams grew with him. A good student, he took up science in high school and made his parents proud when he secured a seat in a much-coveted Medical College. He would be the first Doctor in the family and for his parents, it was the fulfillment of all their desires. But fate had something else in store. When Sajal was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 22, the Sen’s life came to a grinding halt. After the initial trauma followed by denial and then resigned acceptance, they decided to give it their all to fight the disease. They visited all Doctors and hospitals possible and tried every treatment recommended, but to no avail. Their brilliant, much adored Medical Intern son was 24 when he passed away, leaving a great void in their lives that they struggled to fill. The initial months after his passing were a nightmare for the couple. Finally, coming to terms with this tragedy in their life, the couple decided they would try for another child. Mrs. Sen was 45. Conceiving through a natural process was highly improbable. They decided to consult their family Doctor who recommended assisted reproduction. When the Sens started looking around for fertility treatment options, Dr. Aindri Sanyal’s name came up. They had heard good things about her and decided to visit her at her clinic. After meeting her they were convinced that she was the Doctor who would be able to help them in fulfilling their dream. The IVF treatment began post the needed tests and counseling. Mrs. Sen was fortunate to conceive in the first cycle of the treatment itself and little Aindri (named after the Doctor by the grateful parents) came into their lives as a very special blessing.
